Half of Quran “void”?
The government of President Nasheed claims that it is spreading “true Islam” under the umbrella of dubious elements like the Adhaalath Party, Islamic Foundation of Maldives and whatever other extremist NGOs that “blossomed” in Maldives with the advent of a so-called “liberal democracy.”

Letter to Amnesty International
12 July 2010
The Director
Amnesty International
Dear Sir/Madam:
On 24 June 2010 I was arrested by Raa atoll Ungoofaaru Police Station where I was charged with “attempted suicide by overdozing on less than a gram of hash oil, atheism and homosexuality.” However, quite strangely, only a vague reference to “drug abuse” appeared on the Court Order for my… »
EDITORIAL: Does MDP now represent the true face of Maldives’ Reform Movement?
NOTE: I don’t normally write ‘editorials’ for my blog, so I hope this attempt doesn’t turn out to be too cheesy, like DO :)
OK…. Let’s set the record straight:
MDP is NOT the SOLE Representative of Maldivians’ Reform Movement. It just happened that in 2003, when the Maldives’ society reached its “boiling point”, some reformists, who… »

What is your “neydhevey amalu” for the day? ;)

http://www.haveeru.com.mv/?page=details&id=96667
What do you consider as “neydhevey amalu”? btw what would be the best translation for this word – improper conduct?
Paragraph two dupes us into assuming that it was a victim-less-crime. In fact, ‘improper conduct’ does not always necessarily mean criminal behavior.

Why Dr. Musthafa Luthfee should stand up to these bullies
Ayya on Wed, 26th May 2010 7:31 PM:
Dr. Musthafa Luthfee should stand up to these bullies. After all he is not suggesting that they do not teach Islam and Dhivehi at A-Level but just give the students a choice.
But I can go one further than Mr. Know-it-all Shaheem and suggest a better compromise.

Why the double standards?
When an Islam-hating and violence-mongering preacher comes to our shores our government (which supposedly is the First Democratic Government Run by the People according to President Nasheed) wastes no time rushing and gushing over him.
When a lot of Maldivian people oppose bringing down two Gitmos to live amongst us, because the Maldivian people do not… »
West Bank rabbi bans women from local election
The chief rabbi of a West Bank settlement has prohibited women from standing in a local community election.
Rabbi Elyakim Levanon of the Elon Moreh settlement, near Nablus, said women lacked the authority to stand for the post of local secretary.
He wrote in a community newspaper that women must only be heard through their husbands. Read… »
