Ilyas and Sun.mv take Conservative lies to new heights

In Maldives’ war against drugs, the President surprised many by saying, during the ceremony to launch the National Drug Help Hotline 1410 – that even if the investigations lead to his father and mother, he will not retreat.
Then in the next instant, while singling out almost all key institutions of the state that will be investigated for any possible links to drugs, the President refers to an “Supreme Islamic Majlis”; he mentioned specifically that he will continue the investigations even if it leads to the doorsteps of all authorities, including the Parliament, the Cabinet, a “Supreme Islamic Majlis”, and “any grouping.”
This clearly demonstrates that the President now doesn’t trust anyone. He is now using the national defence force to break the spat between Immigration Department and Human Resources Ministry. These internal dissensions were evident earlier, too, for example, when the Deputy Mayor gave permission for a construction project to go ahead which the Mayor had refused to approve citing “irregularities.”
Who knows? This may be the steps leading to a military dictatorship, since the President seems hellbent on ensuring that his agenda for Maldives is complete when his term(s) end. Sort of ushering in Liberal Democracy in a rush.
But it is amusing that the President should single out Islamic authorities in Maldives and he’s right – the Press Secretary in the Minivan News article pointed out:
‘’These religious scholars lack information on the topic, they don’t really have adequate information on drug abuse treatment,’’ Zuhair said. ‘’Scholars have to collect more information before they preach.’’
I wouldn’t trust these self-proclaimed theologians myself as current trends show that the Adhaalath Party and the various “Islamic” NGOs are too Conservative for my taste – bordering on Extremism. So far their actions have only demonstrated hypocrisy and a taste for power and this world’s riches – while hiding in the disguise of religion.
For example, this “sheikh” Ilyas and Sun.mv seem never to have seen or read about the withdrawal symptoms (siku moya-vun in Dhivehi) a heroin user would face if he doesn’t get his next “fix.”
Sun.mv had chosen certain words to falsely mean that the President was encouraging drug abuse by saying that it something that the user “needs” and “must have.” Here’s a screenshot of the exact paragraph from the President’s speech and you can clearly see that the President warns that there could be crime because the user, when facing withdrawal symptoms, would “need” and “do whatever he can” to seek his next fix:
It clearly demonstrates that the President was being compassionate and humane and was only talking about helping users who face withdrawal problems which can be excruciatingly painful and can make you hallucinate, go unconscious and even suffer from fits. The President, in no way, is saying that just anybody would need or must have drugs for the sake of it.
The President is quite bold and daring for saying this, because as the Press Secretary pointed out, our discriminatory legislation and penalties for drug users can only be amended when only public awareness is raised. Otherwise, in a serious issue like drugs, if the public misunderstands, actions taken by the government could be seen as haraam (prohibited).
Ilyas and Sun.mv don’t seem to be aware that the Quran also didn’t ban alcohol in one instant: since alcohol addiction is a serious problem, even the Quran prohibited it in stages.
So their current attitudes demonstrate that both Ilyas and Sun.mv editors lack humanity and compassion. Disgusting.
If you idiots have nothing useful to say to this society, then please disappear from the public sphere.
