Just now I was reading this blog post on Kiss the Maldives blog and I was discussing this issue with one of my female relatives. She also wondered how a child of 9 years can marry in Maldives and therefore why Shaheem should be referring to a child “bride” instead of the word “concubine”.
“Doesn’t that mean that he basically has found the Jaariyaa you wrote about? Doesn’t this mean that the investigation has uncovered the extremist who has this child concubine?” she wondered.
As that blog outlined, I think there are more “issues” here at stake with regard to a child “bride”, including the fact why Shaheem didn’t reveal the identity of the person who had this child “bride”. Indeed, who is he trying to protect?
I will raise one more interesting point of my own with regard to this issue:
My relative said that Shaheem on DhiTV said that he would never support a 9-year-old child in getting married and that the Islamic Ministry (under Adhaalath) would investigate and take legal measures against the pedophile who is “married” to this child “bride”.
Why?
Didn’t “Dr” Bilal Philips Screwdriver say it is legal for a child to marry if he/she has baaliqed (i.e. reached puberty)?
Why this sudden change of heart?
I guess the overwhelming public pressure by true and moderate Maldivian Muslims is forcing Adhaalath to change its colors once again to adapt to the demands of the situation, because, as we all know now, the party’s sole aim is to cling onto power and riches it gets by being in the government.
Talk about chameleons in Maldives!
They just need to be eradicated.

its how they work. they change color to pose as good guys. they want to hide their ‘deformities’…and look all pretty. once you they get you in…slowly they will reveal the true colors and then you will be too drunk to see how ugly it really is. that is how they work.
